BREAKER is one of my favorite creations. I created her two years ago and had planned to feature her in a limited series, but I never had the time to commit to the project. Thankfully, she will finally be able to come to life as part of the upcoming superhero RPG Capes, Cowls and Villains Foul from Spectrum Games [link]

Young Kelley Stacey should have had an idyllic life. She grew up in Mission Beach, California, in a house off of a narrow sidewalk between the ocean and the bay. However, when her mother died in a surfing accident, Kelley’s father slipped into a deep depression. He became prone to violent alcohol-fueled rages, and began to abuse Kelley both mentally and physically. After one particularly violent encounter, Kelley's fragile teen psyche snapped and she unleashed a violent psychokinetic attack. Electricity erupted from her body, killing her father instantly and burning down her family home.

Still a minor, Kelley was sent to live with her aunt, Jennifer Fisher. Kelley recovered and exceled under the care of her Aunt Jenny. She graduated from high school near the top of her class and joined the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). She quickly racked up an impressive arrest record, becoming one of the youngest female detectives in the history of the LAPD. Kelley pursues the sexual predators the most ferociously and, when she is unable to find a legal way to bring a perpetrator to justice, she dons the costume of “Breaker” and seeks out street justice.

Ironically, Breaker is one of the LAPD's most wanted criminals.

Wow, love your color work, Brent! I'd be delighted to see how you did it! You should put up a youtube vid of all the steps you went through :)

Thanks, bro, I appreciate that! A vid would take f-o-r-e-v-e-r to do because I have such little free time that I have to work in increments, you know? Plus, people would freak out when they realize that I color with a *gasp* mouse instead of a pen.

Yeah, i'm in the same boat as you. I'd love to vid my work but i just don't have the time. And i have no idea how you can do all those effects with a freakin' mouse!!! That's outstanding!

I don't know either, dude! EVERYONE and their brother uses a pen, but I can't. I was showing my work around at SDCC and when I told people I used a mouse they just about shat themselves. I've tried a pen, but I'm so used to the mouse now that I don't want to take the time to relearn everything. Plus, it does give me precision, which is very important to me and for my style of coloring.

It's VERY important to use what works! No matter what others prefer using. I had to scrap one of my recent contest winner portraits only because i didn't like the new mechanical pencil i was using! I found it awesome for comic work but not so much for precise portrait making. Your style is outstanding, don't change a thing :)

Thanks, man! I know it's unconventional, but as long as it produces the results that I want I'm happy.
