LILLITH is another one of my favorite creations, the mortal enemy and nemesis of BREAKER [link] She will be featured in the upcoming superhero RPG Capes, Cowls and Villains Foul from Spectrum Games ([link]).

Little is known about the pyrokinetic super-serial killer known as Lillith. Linked to over one hundred brutal homicides since her debut in Los Angeles less than a year ago, Lillith targets men, particularly those who use or abuse women, but she does not discriminate—anyone who gets in her way is a potential victim.

Having never been photographed, and leaving no physical evidence behind to link her to any of the murders, many question whether Lillith is real or myth, but the mountain of ashes left behind by her victims is a testament to her existence. An entire division of the Los Angeles Police Department has been devoted to her capture, but so far she has eluded all attempts to track her down.

Thanks, man! I worked hard on this one. I just learned how to do the fire effect last week and this is my first attempt at it. It came out great IMHO, but I haven't figured out how to do it on a background that's not burnt sienna. Ha!

Thanks, pardner! I've already figured out a way to get around the burnt cienna background dilemma so I'll be using it more often. I'm self-taught on PS thanks to the WEALTH of tutorials on the 'net.

Again, thanks! When I got back into comic drawing in '07, I just wasn't satisfied with my pencil work. It just didn't look "finished" enough for my taste. I abandoned pencil altogether and began drawing strictly with Sharpies (again, rather unconventional, but it's all that I had). I started to learn PS solely as a way of cleaning up the bleeding lines from the Sharpies and then color was a natural next step.

Well i gotta say, it's an awesome progression, coming from mere sharpies! Which, even though unconventional, are pretty great actually :)

Looks great Brent.
How many layers have you used?
If the figure and the background are on the same layer the flame effect will affect both.

Thanks! All told 11 layers. The figure and the background are separate layers, but what makes the fire "orange" is the burnt sienna background behind it 'cause the flames are made on a Color Dodge layer above the figure using the Smudge tool. If I change the background to white, the flames turn white; purple, the flames are purple, etc. Any suggestions?

So...I´m guessing the layer is set on multiply...or it has a high level of transparency...Have you tried to apply the sienna color only to the fire layer...I can´t remember how it is done but I´m sure it can be done...lemme see and I´ll get back at you ASAP.
