SLAVEDRIVER is another one of the characters that I originally created as just a wee lad, no more than 9 or 10 years old. I no longer have the original drawing, but I found one from when I was 12 that I used as the basis for this updated design.

Slavedriver will be appearing in the upcoming superhero role-playing game Capes, Cowls & Villains Foul from Spectrum Games and also appears on the cover:

Slavedriver is the current corporeal incarnation of the malevolent Djinn Talhazar, an ancient spirit whose existence predates humanity. Talhazar's primary form is that of fire, smoke and electricity, a state in which it "lived" for untold years before the arrival of man. In its elemental state, Talhazar is virtually indestructible, susceptible to only the most powerful of magics, but the Djinn frequently takes possession of the bodies of animals and humans so that it can experience the pleasures of the flesh and exact its will upon the material world.

Once the scourge of Mesopotamia, Talhazar was defeated by an army of sorcerers after a protracted battle that left several ancient cities in ruins and tens of thousands of innocents dead. Sealed in a totem by the sorcerers and buried in the desert, Talhazar slumbered for more than six thousand years until an American artifact collector and amateur archaeologist by the name of Dr. Tiberius Bell unearthed the artifact in the late 1800s and spirited it away to America. When Dr. Bell's indentured servant, Jeremiah Washington, accidentally cracked the seal on the totem while cleaning it, the essence of Talhazar was freed at long last.

Empowered by Washington's deep hatred for Dr. Bell, Talhazar easily took possession of Washington and went on a rampage that didn't end until nearly 200 innocent people had been killed. Though the Djinn's energy makes any body that it possesses far stronger and more durable than that of an average human, the hijacked bodies are still susceptible to injury and destruction. When the U.S. calvary managed to corner Washington/Talazar inside a Southern fort, they burned it to the ground, destroying Washington's body and releasing Talhazar once again into the ether to search for a new host body.

After finding and losing several bodies in quick succession, Talhazar grew annoyed with the perpetual quest for hosts and sought out a stronger host body, finding it in Clive Warburton, aka Slavedriver, a low-level meta-human working as an enforcer for the mob in the 1930s. Talhazar took possession of Slavedriver's body and amplified the meta-human's own powers and abilities, making him far stronger and more resistant to injury and magic.

Slavedriver's unique physical makeup also allows Talhazar to channel its own energy through the host body as offensive weapons. It is capable of projecting powerful energy blasts from its eyes and can create weapons out of its own energy, typically manifesting a whip, the weapon of choice of Slavedriver before he was corrupted by Talhazar. When Talhazar strikes or lashes its victims with its energy weapons, it is capable of siphoning off and consuming the target's very life essence, adding it to its own. By doing this, Talhazar can "feed" its elemental essence and regenerate its host body at the same time. This has allowed Talhazar, as Slavedriver, to remain virtually unchanged throughout the decades.

Thanks, dude! How have you been? I've been working so much lately that I haven't been able to devote much time to contributing to or hanging out at CBM.

I know the feeling...

What's the comic about? Will you be writing it, drawing it, both?

Thanks again! Stay in touch!

Oh not much, the generic type of fantasy adventure comic. I don't want it too cartoony but i do want to add some manga influence to it. I'll have to work at it a lot before i put it online though. I'll be doing all of the above, it'll be my baby for a good while ;)

Will do! :)
